children's home

Today would be my second trip to a children's home.I was there to sign up as a volunteer and observe my friend as she trains a group of 12 children for a performance. For both times i was there, i always develop this strange feeling.A feeling of wanting to visit again. The children are so adorable and full of energy.

Today's visit left an impact on me.When i look at the children, it left me thinking how very fortunate we are to have parents who love us and have a proper home to go back to with our own personal space;our bedroom. When we have a problem or get bullied in school, we run home crying to our mother who will hug us and comfort us. With her warmth,we feel secure and safe. With her soothing words we are rest assured that everything will be OK.We need something, we will depend on our father for financial support and he will be there to help us.But when i look at the children i feel so sorry for them. For those who are orphans, all they have are their other 'brothers' and 'sisters' and care givers who can only afford to give limited love, something not equivalent to a mother's or father's love. And when they have a problem there will be no one to hug them, sing a lullaby or tell them that everything will be ok.

I thank Allah for opening my eyes and giving me a chance to see one other part of life, be part of this experience and for giving me such wonderful parents.

When we look at our life and wished we had a better life, we should look at others who are less fortunate. My father once said " those with parents are the richest of people as they get a lot of love". Love is the greatest gift of all, even all the riches in the world cant buy love. Treat our parents well before we lose them because when they are no longer in this world we will truly miss every moment with them. Treasure all that we have and always be thankful for what Allah has given us.

Inshaallah this has benefited you.

Assalamualaikum.
